Find Purpose through Spirituality

Have you ever wondered why you’re here and what’s your purpose? I have! Therefore, I want to share with others what I’ve realized on this journey to finding myself…

quick back story…

I’ll be honest, I grew up in the south where I attended a Baptist Church until the day my Grandma could no longer convince me to go. I was probably 12 or 13 years old. The message seemed to be full of restriction and fear instead of expansion and empowerment. Church taught me what I shouldn’t do and if I did what the consequences would be… go to Hell! What a powerful message for a young mind! However, not in a good way. It taught me how to stay in line. Judge others who didn’t live by the scripture or who participated in particular lifestyle choices such as drinking or smoking. Feeling completely disconnected with this message, I quit and never stepped foot in another church…

My goal here is NOT to bash organized religion. In fact, my experience is just that, mine. It doesn’t mean others feel the same or have had the same experience. However, in my opinion, religion has divided us. How? Through labels such as Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Judaism, etc…and then the labels continue with the different denominations within these religions. For example, Catholic, Baptist, Protestant, Mormon, Jehovah’s witness, etc…Whew! How does anyone keep up with this?!

In my opinion, it seems more conducive to come together as one with a central understanding of who we are and where we come from. Since we’re all human beings, we’re obviously created from the same source right? Therefore, what’s the point of dividing ourselves into sub-groups where we’re made to feel one teaching is superior to another? This started my journey to want more meaning, connection, and value out of this thing we call life…

what is spirituality?

The technical definition is…the quality of being concerned with the human spirit or soul as opposed to material or physical things. I interpret this as understanding happiness comes from within verses from an attachment to things or people. However, how to we get happy inside? For me, it began with LEARNING what we’ve never been taught…

  • WE ARE POWERFUL BEINGS WITH GOD INSIDE
  • WE ARE THE CREATORS OF OUR OWN REALITY
  • NOTHING HAPPENS TO US, IT HAPPENS FOR US
  • WE ALL HAVE THE ABILITY TO CONNECT WITH OUR HIGHER SELF

Truly understanding these concepts took me from being a passive bystander in my life hoping for the best TO knowing I’m a conscious creator in control of my reality. Religion never empowered me. It made me feel inferior as if God was big and I was small. It told me to worship and pray to a particular deity. Ultimately, this message only catered to my senses and created the illusion of separation…This may sound like blaspheme, but it makes sense to me…

Since we’re created from God, we are God. In fact, The Law of Divine Oneness states everything that exist seen and unseen are connected to each other to a field of divine oneness…

say what?

Our five senses allow us to see, hear, touch, smell, and taste what we perceive in our physical reality which is the third dimension. I believe this is where many of us get distracted and stuck. We become attached to things in our physical reality such as material possessions, ideas, people, television, junk food, drama, news, social media, etc…as if this is all that exist. In other words, our physical senses can block our believability of the unseen. This type of consciousness has us looking everywhere for answers. Doctors, Gurus, Deity’s, Celebrities, Politicians, Evangelist, Psychics, etc…Ultimately, everywhere BUT within ourself…However, our soul represents our entire element of existence, it’s just not tangible to the physical senses. Therefore, this means physical senses don’t define what’s real SO maybe it’s time to look beyond the third dimension of reality into understanding the invisible field of energy that surrounds us. This made the connection easier for me…

bottom line, science shows us everything is energy…

Our body is simply our vehicle that detects and interacts with the physical world here on Earth while our soul is connected to an unseen universal sea of energy. To me, this suggests we’re not separate or distant from our Creator. Instead, we’re connected energetically from within. This means, by default we possess the same ability to create. This is expressed through things such as childbirth, inventions, technological advancements, music, art, film production, ballet, etc…This alone proves how powerful we are and with this acknowledgement, you’re well on your way! This was my first step!

Next,  I had to recognize I am the creator of my reality, good OR bad. I know it’s easier to blame others for our situation or why we’re having a bad day BUT the reality is, we’ve created it. The Law of Attraction demonstrates how we create the things, events, and people who come into our lives. This happens because we create specific energies that are attached with our thoughts, feelings, words, and actions. Specifically, these energies emit vibrations into the universe that bounce back like an echo. Ultimately, like attracts like. The Law of Vibration explains how each sound, thought, and thing emits its own vibrational frequency. Ultimately, understanding these laws puts us in a better position to consciously steer our reality in the direction of our liking.

Furthermore, it’s amazing what happens when we stop playing the reactionary victim in our life. This starts by realizing, nothing happens to us, it happens for us. For example, the Law of Relativity states that each person will receive a series of problems for the purpose to strengthen the light within. In order to pass these tests if you will, it’s imperative to remain connected to the heart when proceeding to solve the problem.

in conclusion…

I want to be clear. I don’t feel religion is bad, I just think the message needs to be updated. Squabbling over intricacies within each religion needs to dissolve SINCE the fundamentals of believing in one creator is the same. With that being said, we all have the ability to connect with our higher self. My favorite way is through meditation. It’s really calming and soothing to my soul. Just sitting and breathing in silence begins the connection to the inner world of who we really are. This happened for me through the exploration of SPIRITUALITY…This journey has made me realize happiness is definitely an inside job NOT something you find externally. Most importantly, it encourages unity NOT division. This happens once we understand who we really are! I encourage others to be more open to the potentials of new information that may hold the key to unlocking your best life yet!
