Meditation: Benefits of Reconnecting with Yourself

What if meditation could enhance our personal lives while benefiting humanity simultaneously? Research seems to suggest this and ancient teachings have seemed to know this! Gamma Brain Waves show an increase in activity while meditating and long-term more permanent increase with continued practice. These brain waves, reinforce the mechanism related to cognitive control of emotion.  Specifically, studies show increased brain activity in the left prefrontal cortex (happy emotions) during meditation and reduced activity in the amygdala (fear). This helps an individual have a less reactionary response to everyday situations. In addition, meditation shows the potential to provide alternative solutions for ailments that trouble many today. For example, DepressionStress, and Anxiety just to name a few.  On a larger scale, meditation has shown the potentiality to become a solution for world peace or at least a move in the right direction!

Why meditate?

I get it! We all CLAIM to have busy lives. However, I suspect a lot of time is wasted engaging in distracting activities. For example, the average American watches almost 5 hours of television per day. To clarify, I mean activities that do not benefit our well being. In other words, by setting the intention to meditate daily, we are investing in our well being. Meditation should not be about any set of rules. The main focus is to quiet the mind by focusing on breathing which relaxes the Mind, Body, and Soul. When we allow time daily to quiet our mind, we begin to observe our thoughts without reaction.  Love becomes unconditional and more abundant. Self-reflection becomes more important than focusing on others. True inner peace begins… you see where I’m going with this! Meditation is no longer “just” for “some” people, in fact, it’s for all people! The benefits far exceed any negative “if any” side effects.  

Why would the healthcare field NOT promote meditation?

Meditation does NOT increase profits! Medication increases profits! Keeping us sick makes this poorly designed system much more profitable than keeping us healthy! Band-aids have seemed to be the focus for too long versus actual CURES. In my opinion, profits and private interest have become more important than humanity itself. It’s now obvious we can no longer expect those we’ve trusted in the past to deliver the necessary information for the betterment of all! We must begin thinking for ourselves again. We must find trust in our own intuition. The answers we need and want lie within every human being. Once we align and center ourselves by turning our focus inward, a new world of opportunity opens up!

In conclusion, are you ready to feel happy, calm, and peaceful? Would you like to experience increased focus and memory? This better perception of reality can be yours… SIMPLY, by meditating! Yes, MEDITATION could prove to be nature’s most powerful anti-depressant!
